United States - February 04, 2025 Kilauea volcano has erupted once again, marking the start of its 8th eruptive phase. The effusive eruption at Halemaʻumaʻu summit crater reactivated on the evening of February 2, rapidly escalating into a dramatic display of volcanic power. The eruption began with a small spattering at the north vent, intensifying into vigorous lava fountaining that reached 250 feet (80 meters) in height within one hour. Seismic tremors peaked at 9:52 PM local time, coinciding with the transition from ground inflation to deflation beneath the crater. Multiple lava flows accompanied the towering fountains, transforming the crater’s landscape as molten rivers surged outward. By late evening, the eruption stabilized, leaving a vivid reminder of Kilauea’s relentless force.
