Frightened wild deer found in house after being chased by dogs
A frightened wild deer that wandered into a house to hide from a stray dog was rescued in Thailand.
The injured muntjac was chased by a canine along the street and sought refuge at a family's home in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on January 30.
Footage shows the male barking deer tied to a post while residents waited for animal rescuers to arrive.
It stayed in the garage of Prempawee Onthaword, who called Thap Lan National Park staff for help before being transported back to the forest the following day.
Prempawee Onthaword said: 'I live one kilometre from the national park, and I called local officers for help catching and tying it while waiting for animal rescuers.'
Resident Laaiad Hakrathok, the first to see the deer, added: 'The dog was chasing the deer. It was wounded, but its horn was long. I was injured while helping capture it.'
The male deer weighed 7st (45kg), and its horns were 3 inches (7cm) long.
National park officers checked its health and then took it to their truck to be released.
Barking deer, also known as muntjacs, are native to parts of South and Southeast Asia. They make distinctive, dog-like bark that they use to communicate, often to warn of danger.
