A horrific motorway crash killed eight motorists and injured 11 others in Indonesia.

A container truck navigating the expressway crashed into queuing vehicles at the toll gate on Ciawi Toll Road in Bogor, West Java, on February 4 at 11:23 pm.

Aerial footage shows the aftermath of the accident, with crates of bottled mineral water scattered across the road.

In another clip, severely damaged toll booths can be seen with debris strewn around the area.

Police reported that eight vehicles were involved in the multi-vehicle accident, with seven men and one woman killed in the collision.

Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said: 'There were a total of 19 victims in the accident, and they were immediately rushed to the Ciawi Regional General Hospital.'

An investigation revealed that the lorry transporting mineral water lost control while manoeuvring on the highway, causing it to crash into multiple cars. The impact led to two Toyota Avanza vehicles catching fire, while the front of the truck also went up in flames.
