A-lister Gary Oldman has been spotted in central London filming for the latest season of popular spy thriller Slow Horses.

The acclaimed British actor was seen alongside co-star Saskia Reeves on Sunday (February 2) as they shot various scenes near the Barbican in the City.

Oldman, 66, was filmed walking down Aldersgate Street while taking a phone call - and was also seen leaving local Italian restaurant Vecchio Parioli.

He later shot a scene inside the restaurant with a blonde actress, where the pair have a brief conversation.

Meanwhile, Reeves, 63, was filmed running across Aldersgate Street into a building - understood to be the spy office for the characters in the popular Apple TV series.

Local resident Emily, who spotted the action, said that the filming saw the road closed between 9am and 5pm while the crew brought in their own cars and buses, and even a rain machine.

She said: "It was fun to see the magic that makes television happen as they closed the whole road down and brought in their own stuff. "

"All the traffic was fake - it was cars and buses they had brought in. And they even brought in a fake bus stop. "

"It was also clearly meant to be a rainy day in the script as, while it was sunny in London on Sunday, they had a rain machine and had all the extras holding umbrellas." "

Emily said she had seen the Slow Horses cast filming in the area before - including on a hot summer's day when everyone "had to wear overcoats". "

She said: "I remember because an extra fainted. "

"On another occasion, I saw them filming - and they put up a fake bus stop which someone mistook for a real one." "

Emily said she enjoys it when filming happens near her home.

She said: "It's fun watching the actors and seeing how it all unfolds. And it's entertaining to see how the area is transformed. "

"The Slow Horses crew have also always been really good at keeping residents informed about disruption - so there are no issues there."

Slow Horses follows a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and their boss Jackson Lamb, played by Oldman, as they work to defend England from sinister forces.

Season 4 aired on Apple TV between September and October 2024 and the fifth season is expected to be released this summer.
