Playground collapses injuring 11 fairground visitors in Guatemala
Eleven fairground visitors were injured when a caterpillar roller coaster collapsed in Guatemala.
The parents and their kids were onboard the kiddie coaster along the winding track when the train fell off the track in Jalapa on February 3.
Footage shows the carnival-goers being lifted out of the crumbled ride. One of them had to wear a neck brace and carried on a stretcher to the hospital.
A youngster cried while being assisted by firefighters to the emergency room for further treatment.
The rescue team said: 'The caterpillar ride collapsed at a fair in San Pedro Pinula. The wagon fell and split in half.
'We have taken all 11 of those who were hurt to a private hospital in Jalapa.'
During the initial investigation, the running wheels of the caterpillar ride were not secured, so it slipped off the rails while sliding down.
Authorities said they have summoned the owners for questioning.
