A drag boat won a race with a dramatic flying finish as it soared through the air.

Footage shows the racer rocketing to incredible heights upon crossing the finish line at Suvarnabhumi Canal in Samut Prakan, Thailand, on February 2, during a local speedboat competition.

The craft overturned and sank, with the participant sustaining minor injuries from the impact.

He was reportedly wearing a helmet and life vest at the time, as required by the event's safety rules.

Organisers stated that the competition aims to preserve the traditions and local culture of the community.

Revenue from the event will be donated to the Bang Sao Thong Temple.

They also noted that the activity followed international standards, including the use of benzyl petrol, operator weight limits, and the installation of photo-finish cameras.
