A CCTV camera captured a stunning display of bravery at the Hathibhata Ashram in Mangalpura, Bhilwara, where a fearless dog confronted a leopard and forced it to retreat.
The dramatic encounter took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday. The footage shows a dog sitting on the ashram’s steps when it suddenly hears rustling in the nearby bushes. Moments later, a leopard emerges and lunges at the dog. Startled, the dog sprints towards the ashram’s gate with the leopard in pursuit.
Realizing escape was impossible, the dog made a split-second decision to stand its ground. Turning back, it barked fiercely at the predator, refusing to back down. The relentless barking startled the leopard, which hesitated for about 20 seconds before slowly retreating into the jungle.
By morning, temple devotees reviewed the CCTV footage and immediately informed the forest department. A search operation was launched, with officials setting up cages and traps to capture the leopard, but the big cat remains elusive.
Ashram head Mahant Santdas Maharaj recalled hearing loud barking late at night, which woke him up. Though he saw nothing unusual at the time, the morning’s CCTV footage revealed the incredible scene.
The forest department has since confirmed the presence of a leopard in the area and urged residents to stay vigilant at night. Meanwhile, the video has gone viral on social media, earning widespread praise for the dog’s extraordinary courage in facing a much stronger opponent.
