Merritt Island, United States - February 05, 2025 Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — SpaceX successfully launched two Earth-imaging satellites on February 4, expanding Maxar Technologies' WorldView Legion constellation. The Falcon 9 rocket, carrying the WorldView Legion 5 and 6 satellites, lifted off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 6:13 p.m. EST. Eight minutes after launch, the Falcon 9's first stage made a successful landing at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Meanwhile, the rocket's upper stage deployed the satellites into orbit. WorldView Legion 5 was released about 49 minutes post-launch, followed by WorldView Legion 6 roughly an hour later. This launch marks a significant step in Maxar’s efforts to enhance its high-resolution satellite imagery capabilities, supporting near real-time insights for customers worldwide. With a resolution of up to 12 inches, the WorldView Legion satellites offer detailed observations of Earth's surface.
