Gaza Strip - February 05, 2025 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip expressed widespread disappointment and rejection following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks on Tuesday about the U.S. taking over the region and relocating local residents. Trump made the remarks in a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, without providing details about how to conduct a resettlement procedure. In the Gaza Strip, the majority of the Palestinians rejected what they consider to be a transfer of them outside of the territory. As they said, they already have nowhere to live and nowhere to go but the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories which are actually identified by the United Nations and the international community resolutions as occupied territories that Israel took over back in 1967. On Jan 25, Trump also proposed a controversial plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan, which was strongly rejected by both countries, and also was met with international rejection.
