Swannanoa, United States - February 06, 2025 Recovery efforts continue in the wake of Hurricane Helene as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, oversees debris removal in Swannanoa. Under a FEMA mission assignment, USACE has already cleared over 33,000 cubic yards of waterway debris, 1.1 million cubic yards of right-of-way debris, and more than 181,000 tons of soil across North Carolina. The large-scale operation is part of a broader emergency response effort, with the Army and Department of Defense working alongside federal, state, and local partners to restore affected communities.
