US, Phoenix: Phoenix Ruptured Ethanol Pipe Prompts HazMat Response
Phoenix, United States - February 05, 2025 02/05/2025 10:00 pm (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix Fire crews responded to the BNSF railway yard located west of 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street at approximately 10 p.m. for reports of a hazardous materials situation. Phoenix Police resources were requested at the scene and established a hard closure on 19th Avenue, spanning from Filmore Street to Interstate 10. Per Phoenix Police at the scene, the closure was established at the request of fire command due to a ruptured ethanol pipeline inside the railyard. Phoenix Fire HazMat units, BNSF staff, and personnel from the Arizona Hazardous Material Unit are working to mitigate the situation. It is unknown if any injuries have been reported.
