A kitten dumped in a sack on a roadside was rescued and rehabilitated by Good Samaritans.

The ginger moggy was found by Rica Mae Manguiat and her father who rushed to check on a sack thrown by a car that stopped near their home in Quezon, the Philippines on February 4.

Footage shows the weak feline moving inside the bag. It was then carried by Rica Mae's father to their home.

The scared kitten was cleaned and fed, but Rica Mae said they had to keep it first in a cage because it was still aggressive.

She said: 'We took the cat to our house but it looked scared after being abandoned like that in a sack. We put it in a cage first until it becomes used to us.'

Rica Mae added the moggy is slowly rehabilitating in its new home with the family.

She said: 'It was dumped by its owner and no longer trusts humans because of that, but I hope it will be happy living with us now.'
