Indians complained about the conditions on deportation flights organised by the Trump administration for illegal immigrants.

Parliamentary proceedings were disrupted on Thursday, February 6, as opposition lawmakers protested the alleged mistreatment of 104 Indian nationals deported by the United States.

The U.S. military C-17 aircraft carrying the deportees landed at Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab, on Wednesday afternoon.

This marked the first flight of its kind as part of a crackdown initiated by the Trump administration.

However, lawmakers and media reports claimed that the deportees were shackled by their arms and legs during the flight.

Parliament was temporarily adjourned as lawmakers chanted slogans and called for a discussion on the deportation.

Dramatic footage shows lawmakers, some wearing shackles, staging a rally outside Parliament in New Delhi over the alleged mistreatment of the deportees.

Renuka Chowdhury, a lawmaker from the Congress party, stated that the deportees were 'handcuffed, had their legs chained, and even struggled to use the washroom'.

Her colleague, Gaurav Gogoi, described the treatment as 'degrading'.

Parliament Speaker Om Birla attempted to calm the situation, explaining that the transportation of the deportees was a matter of U.S. foreign policy and the country had its own rules and regulations.

One deportee, Jaspal Singh, 36, said the handcuffs and leg chains were only removed once they arrived at Amritsar airport.

Singh said that the deportees initially believed they were being relocated to another camp within the U.S. and only learned about their deportation once on the aircraft.

He added: 'The flight was into 8-9 hours and an officer informed us that we are being deported to India.'

The plane, which departed from San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon, included 45 U.S. officials overseeing the deportation process, along with 11 crew members.

Local media reported that most of the deported Indians were apprehended at the Mexico-US border. It is believed they had left India legally but attempted to enter the country via the donkey routes.

President Donald Trump, known for his hardline nationalist and anti-immigrant rhetoric, has promised a sweeping crackdown on undocumented and illegal immigrants in the country.

On his first day of office, he declared a 'national emergency' at the southern border with Mexico.

He has also issued a memo telling the U.S. Agency for International Development to adopt an 'America First' policy, threatening sanctions on staff who refuse to obey.

Dozens of deportation flights have also taken off, sending illegals back to their homeland in handcuffs.
