This the moment a woman found out she had become a grandmother for the second time after daughter gave birth early and kept it a secret.

Erin Frances Simpson, 41, was booked for an induction on 31 October 2024 but went into labour three days early.

Instead of telling her mum Sue Simpson, 72, Erin decided to keep it a surprise and waited for her mum to come back from her weekend away at the family's beach house.

Heart-warming video shows Sue's reaction as she walks in to find her new grandson lying in a cot.

Erin, a TV presenter and a content creator from Auckland, New Zealand, said: "Erin said: "The lovely thing is that she looked after me first before going to her grandchild."

"So even though I'm 41, she's still checking on her baby first."

Erin's first child Harrison, three, was born within the hour of the first contraction so she expected her second to come in a hurry too.

Three days before her scheduled induction Erin woke up with stomach pains and assumed it was her coeliac disease.

But around lunchtime, she realised the pains were actually contractions.

Erin and her partner rushed to hospital on 28 October 2024 and Harley was born within an hour.

The birth happened so fast Erin and her partner barely made it to the hospital in time and didn't have time to let their families know.

Erin said: "The only two things on my mind were the babysitter arriving to look after my eldest and making it to the hospital."

Knowing that her mum would be upset for missing the birth, Erin decided to wait until she came back from her weekend away and surprise her.

Erin said: "I knew she'd be upset for missing the birth so I thought the next best thing would be a surprise."
