A brave pedestrian chased a motorcycle rider who sped through a zebra crossing.

The two-wheeler ran red light and stopped inches away from people before the walker with a white shoulder bag blocked his path in Bangkok, Thailand on December 14..

He tried to strike the vehicle with a flying kick, but the rude motorist threatened to hit him.

The pedestrian became even more furious and chased the motorcycle rider, who circled back at him.

After the incident, the pedestrian complained to the police, who checked the security camera for evidence.

Lumphini Police Station officers identified the rude motorist as Jetsada, 26, and he was arrested.

The investigating officer said: 'He told us he was going to pick up his girlfriend. He was unable to stop the motorcycle at the zebra crossing.'

However, Jetsada claimed the pedestrian insulted and chased him away.

Jetsada was charged with reckless driving, riding in reverse, failing to stop at a zebra crossing, disobeying a traffic signal, and riding without a license.

He was taken to the Pathumwan District Court on January 30, where he admitted to the violations.

Jetsada was sentenced to a year in prison with 3,000 baht (71.57 GBP), but suspended for two years.

He was also required to report to the police once every three months for a year while his motorcycle was confiscated.

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
