The 9th Asian Winter Games opened in China's Harbin on Friday night during a festive ceremony highlighting the city's ice and snow culture.
Harbin embraces the event for a second time after having hosted the third edition of the Games 29 years ago.
Over 1,200 athletes from 34 countries and regions across Asia will compete in the Games.
