Phoenix, United States - February 07, 2025 02/07/2025 01:00 am (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix Police officers responded to the area of 51st Avenue and Maryvale Parkway around 1:00 a.m. Officers on scene quickly established a hard closure for 51st Avenue, spanning between Pierson Street and Campbell Avenue. An additional closure was established for 50th Drive in the residential neighborhood to the east, spanning between Pierson Street and Campbell Avenue. Neighbors in the area spoke off camera and stated officers were seen going door to door, asking residents within the closed area to either evacuate or shelter in place. A short time later, several units from the Phoenix Police Bomb Squad arrived on scene. Bomb Squad units gathered near the center of the closure, east of 51st Avenue and Maryvale Parkway, and were seen inspecting a large white box truck. The cab of the box truck appeared to be severely damaged. All windows were completely shattered, and broken glass/debris was seen scattered across the roadway several feet in all directions. It is unknown if any injuries have been reported. Phoenix Police officials have yet to elaborate on the exact context of the investigation.
