STORYLINE:

The partnership between Spain's Ebro-EV Motors and China's Chery Automobile has had a promising start to the year, as their joint venture in Barcelona continues to gain traction in the Spanish auto market.

Ebro, leveraging Chery's technology, sold 256 units of its s700 and s800 SUV models in January, marking a solid entry into the market just months after the Barcelona plant commenced production in late November 2024.

Meanwhile, Chery's own brands, Omoda and Jaecoo, have also made impressive strides. In January alone, Chery registered 918 sales of its Omoda brand and 283 of Jaecoo, positioning the company as the 20th best-selling automaker in Spain, according to the country's General Directorate of Traffic.

Adding to this momentum, Chery announced earlier this week that its Omoda and Jaecoo brands have surpassed 10,000 sales in Spain since their commercial launch in February 2024.

Currently, Omoda and Jaecoo operate through 70 dealerships across Spain. Production of select Omoda and Jaecoo models at the Ebro-Chery plant in Barcelona is set to begin before the end of the year, reinforcing the brand's commitment to local manufacturing and the Spanish market.
