United States - February 06, 2025 [WARNING: video contains profanity] A woman was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly taking down the U.S. flag at Hart Park and raising the Mexican flag in its place, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say 24-year-old Crystal Aguilar cut the chain securing the flagpole, threw the American flag into the mud, and hoisted the Mexican flag. Body camera footage captured Aguilar telling officers, “You’re not going to tell me what to do, this is Mexican land.” Park rangers responded to multiple reports of someone trying to steal the flag around 9:30 a.m. When they attempted to take Aguilar into custody, she allegedly resisted and made threats against them. Aguilar was booked into the Lerdo jail on charges of trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest, and threatening a peace officer. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
