A sweet-toothed wild crow stole an ice cream cone from a tourist in Japan.

Footage shows the blackbird descending onto Shiela Santos' head to snatch her vanilla-flavoured treat while she posed amid snow-covered buildings in Sapporo on January 31.

The feathered animal landed its talons on Shiela's head and caused some of the dessert to slip off the sugar cone.

The crow flew away and divebombed Shiela for the second time as she and her friend walked away from the spot.

Shiela said in the video: 'Oh no, my hair. The birds here are traumatising. It is so sticky.'

The crow followed the girls even after crossing to the other side of the street.

Sheila, who is from the Philippines, said: 'We have these birds in Kyoto, but they are not as aggressive.'

The tourist and her friend eventually left the ice cream for the bird as it followed them, hovering overhead as they tried to leave the spot.

The notoriously aggressive carrion crows in Sapporo are a well-known part of the city's urban wildlife. The large-billed beasts are highly intelligent and have learned how to collect food from bins and steal lunch from locals.
