Fire crews soaked debris to contain ash and dust from California fires.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers used the 'wet method' on February 8 to remove remnants from wildfire-damaged properties to prevent hazardous materials from contaminating the air.

Footage shows responders dousing debris as they work through destroyed residences in Los Angeles.

Authorities stated that the process is designed to protect both public health and the environment in the aftermath of the recent wildfires.

Massive blazes recently ravaged Los Angeles.

The Palisades fire broke out on Tuesday, January 7, near Los Angeles. It burned over 23,400 acres, including homes and businesses in Pacific Palisades and along the Pacific Coast Highway.

The Eaton fire also began on January 7 and burned more than 14,000 acres.

Both fires were reportedly 100 per cent contained.
