A tornado ripped through rice fields in Indonesia.

The whirlwind reportedly damaged dozens of nearby homes in Maros district, South Sulawesi, on February 9.

Footage shows the vortex spinning rapidly through the rice fields, hitting the mud before reportedly battering residents' homes.

Amson Padolo, head of the regional disaster management, said: 'Dozens of houses were badly damaged as a result of the weather phenomenon.'

No one was reportedly hurt in the incident.

Tornadoes are powerful and unpredictable natural phenomena that can have a lasting impact on agricultural areas.

The Tri-State Tornado is the largest and most devastating tornado in recorded history. It occurred on March 18, 1925, and traveled through parts of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. This phenomenon caused extensive damage to agricultural fields, homes, and infrastructure along its path. It remains one of the most powerful and destructive tornadoes in history.
