Police stop Ed Sheeran from busking in India
This is the awkward moment Ed Sheeran was embarrassed when Indian police stopped his street performance on Sunday morning.
The renowned British singer, currently in the country for his highly anticipated 2025 India Tour, visited Church Street in Bangalore for an impromptu busing session on February 9.
The global music sensation began serenading passersby from the footpath, quickly drawing an admiring crowd of onlookers.
However, as the gathering grew larger, cops stepped in to control the situation. Unaware of Sheeran's identity, the officers requested that he cease his performance due to a lack of official permissions.
Footage captures an officer unplugging Sheeran's microphone while the singer continued to perform.
Sheeran later clarified the misunderstanding, revealing that the performance had been pre-arranged.
He said: 'We had permission to busk by the way, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn't just us randomly turning up.
'All good though. See ya at the show tonight.'
The four-time Grammy Award winner had already performed in Bangalore, also called Bengaluru, on Saturday and was scheduled to take the stage again on Sunday at the NICE grounds.
Sheeran's India tour also included a remarkable performance in Hyderabad alongside Armaan Malik. The singer will perform in Pune, Shillong, and Delhi NCR in the coming days as part of his ongoing tour.
Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, Bangalore will be the only city where Sheeran performs twice.
