A four-year-old boy whose hand was stuck in a metal handrail was rescued by firefighters in Indonesia.

The dramatic incident unfolded at a market in Padang City, West Sumatra, on Friday, February 7, at around 4:39 pm.

Reports indicated that young Ragil's hand became painfully trapped in an iron pipe while he was exploring the stairs, as his mother briefly lost sight of him, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

Dramatic footage shows emergency responders using an iron cutter to slice through the handrail, with sparks flying from the metal.

After tense moments, the fire team successfully freed the boy's hand from the iron pipe at approximately 5:05 pm.

Remarkably, Ragil did not sustain any serious injuries.

Rinaldi, the head of the Padang City fire operational division, credited the team's quick response for the successful rescue following reports from concerned residents.

He urged the public to exercise greater caution and closely supervise children, particularly in public spaces, to avoid similar accidents.

The officer added: 'With this incident, we hope parents will be more vigilant and aware of their children's activities, especially in areas with potential hazards.'
