Dozens of tourists crammed onto a narrow wooden walkway as they walked to a beach party in Thailand.

Footage shows the holidaymakers struggling to cross the bridge that led to boats in Surat Thani province on December 31.

The visitors crowded the footbridge while trying to board a ferry that would take them to Koh Pha Ngan Island, where the popular Haad Rin Beach party is held.

Some of them had to cling onto a pole to keep themselves from falling while being assisted by a local.

British tourist Ellen Bea said: 'That was the reality of trying to get a boat to Koh Pha Ngan for New Year's Eve.'

The Thai Full Moon Party is a famous monthly event held on Koh Phangan, an island in southern Thailand.

It typically takes place on the night of the full moon at Haad Rin Beach, attracting thousands of partygoers from all over the world.
