Police seize over 600kg of cocaine from narco-yacht off Spanish coast
Police seized more than 600 kilograms of cocaine in a major drug bust from a narco-yacht off the Spanish coast.
Spanish authorities intercepted the drug-laden sailboat sailing under the Polish flag en route to the Canary Islands, 800 nautical miles west of Tenerife.
The operation, targeting maritime drug trafficking, involved collaboration with authorities from France, the UK, and the US.
Acting on intelligence from French authorities in the Caribbean, along with British and American sources, the sailboat was tracked across the Atlantic and swiftly boarded by Spain's Special Operations Group (GEO).
The agents arrested the two crew members aboard.
Footage shows officers seizing 19 bales of suspected cocaine, along with various documents and electronic devices.
On January 20, police dismantled a cocaine smuggling ring at a shopping mall in Madrid, seizing nearly 200 kilos of cocaine worth around six million EUR (5,064,150 GBP).
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the shipment of drugs from Ecuador to the port of Algeciras.
The operation began in August 2024 and involved cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
