US: SpaceX Launches 21 Satellites, Boosting Broadband Connectivity as Falcon 9 Marks 18th Flight
Cape Canaveral, United States - February 11, 2025 In another successful mission, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket soared into the sky on Tuesday afternoon from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, marking the 14th orbital rocket launch of the year from Florida's Space Coast. At 1:53 p.m. EST, the Starlink 12-18 mission lifted off from Launch Complex 40, carrying 21 broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit, with 13 of them equipped for direct-to-cell communications. These satellites are part of SpaceX’s ongoing effort to expand global connectivity. The mission also saw the 18th successful flight of the Falcon 9 first-stage booster, which landed safely on the SpaceX drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. This booster, having previously launched a range of missions, including Crew-5 and 10 other Starlink flights, continues to be a workhorse in SpaceX’s growing launch program. Looking ahead, SpaceX has also confirmed plans for an exciting new mission: the Pandora small satellite, slated to launch as early as this fall. Pandora will embark on a yearlong astrophysics mission to study at least 20 exoplanets, providing valuable insights into worlds beyond our solar system.
