Guatemala City, Guatemala - February 10, 2025 A tragic bus accident occurred on Calzada La Paz, near the Puente Belice in Zone 6, Guatemala City, as a bus plunged into a ravine. Firefighters and rescue teams have been working tirelessly to extricate those trapped inside. Initial reports confirm five fatalities, with more casualties feared. Rescue operations continue, with authorities coordinating efforts to retrieve both the dead and survivors. According to Carlos Hernández, a firefighter with Bomberosmuni, the accident, involving an intercity bus, has resulted in over 40 fatalities. Additionally, Bomberosmuni is collaborating with the Guatemala Public Ministry (MPguatemala) to assist with the transport of the victims' bodies to the morgue.
