A leopard fell into a well while searching for prey and remained inside and was rescued by the Forest Department.

The rescue took place in Ahwa village, in Dang district, in northern India’s Gujarat on February 11.

Visuals show the leopard sitting on a flat stone inside the well, watching the onlookers. Villagers gather around to witness the rescue operation, with some recording videos of the incident. The rescue team lowers a cage into the well with the help of an excavator. The forest officials successfully pull the cage out, securing the leopard inside.

Speaking to Newslions, Chandubhai Rajalbhai Gavit, an Unarmed Police Constable from Ahwa, Gujarat, stated that the leopard had fallen into a well located behind the Ahwa Police Headquarters. The forest department promptly rushed to the spot and rescued the leopard after a few failed attempts. Later, the animal was safely released into Vansda National Park.
