Mother holds her umbrella while trapped in neck-deep flood
This is the moment a mother holds her umbrella while trapped in neck-deep floodwaters in Indonesia.
The mum was braving the deluge alone - hoping for the best with her small extendable bolley - as she slowly walked through the deluge at the Antang National Housing Complex in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, on February 12 afternoon.
Thousands of residents were recently affected by floods in several cities in the region.
Local media reported on Wednesday that at least four sub-districts in Makassar City, including Manggala, Biringkanaya, Tamalate, and Tamalanrea, had already been hit by floods.
Makassar City BPBD Chief Executive Hendra Hakamuddin said: 'Currently, there are 580 displaced families comprising 2,164 people. They are spread across 24 evacuation points.'
Indonesia and some neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia have been experiencing an extended monsoon season. There have been powerful rainstorms, leading to widespread flash floods and landslides.
