Gaza Strip: Gazans return after Israeli troops withdraw from Netzarim Corridor, but scars remain
Gaza Strip - February 12, 2025 Thousands of displaced Palestinians have begun the journey home following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip as part of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement. Among them is Rami Saluha, who, along with his wife and two young children, fled their home in Gaza City to escape the airstrikes early in the conflict. They sought refuge in the southern Gaza Strip for over a year until Israeli withdrawal from the Netzarim Corridor which finally opened the path for their return. The journey, normally a 30-kilometer trip, took nearly four hours due to damaged roads, heavy traffic, and security measures. As Saluha approached his neighborhood, he became more disturbed while looking at the scarred surroundings. After returning home, he was lost in thought as he saw the devastation of his home. Every window was shattered and the frames were blown out by explosions. Despite the destruction, Saluha is determined to stay with home. Shotlist: Gaza Strip - Feb 12, 2025: 1.
