Berlin, Germany - February 08, 2025 A police crackdown forcibly dispersed a pro-Palestinian protest at Wittenbergplatz in Berlin on Saturday, February 8, 2025, after repeated breaches of the strict conditions imposed on the protest, which had banned Arabic-language chants and speeches, among other issues. Authorities had imposed tight restrictions on the rally, permitting only German and English slogans, restricting the use of drums, and insisting protesters not march through the city but remain in one place. The demonstration, announced under the slogan "Stop the Aggression in the West Bank! No Arms Deliveries to Israel," was only approved as a stationary event due to similar incidents in the past that involved hate speech, incitement, and attacks on journalists and police. Despite such measures, the police argued that the speakers were continuing to speak in Arabic, and protesters shouted slogans including: "From Berlin to Gaza, Yallah Yallah Intifada" and "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free."
