New York, United States - February 13, 2025 A Chinese envoy on Thursday urged all parties concerned in the conflict in Yemen to seize the opportunity of the ceasefire in Gaza, stop attacking commercial vessels and stop air strikes on Yemen so as to avoid further escalation of the situation. Addressing a United Nations Security Council meeting, Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said that recently, with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the situation in Yemen and the Red Sea has generally eased. However, the parties to the conflict are complicated, their willingness for political settlement is obviously insufficient, and the situation on the ground remains fragile.
