England begin training for Scotland 6N clash, buoyed by crucial France win
The England rugby team returned to the training pitch on Thursday buoyed by Saturday’s last-gasp 26-25 defeat of France which kept their Six Nations title hopes alive.
The timely win ended a run of seven defeats to Tier One nations and maintained England’s hopes of winning a first championship since 2020.
Borthwick’s team host arch-rivals Scotland at Twickenham Stadium next Saturday and are looking to end a run of four straight Calcutta Cup defeats.
England have called up 20-year-old rising star Henry Pollock for their three-day training camp which began on Wednesday while fellow flanker Tom Curry recuperates following Saturday's win over France.
Both Curry and second row George Martin are on recovery plans which expect them to resume full training next week in the build-up to the Scotland clash.
Exeter wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, who is in contention for the end of the tournament after opting against surgery on a shoulder dislocation, was also in camp on Thursday, but not on the training pitch, as he works towards his comeback.
Scotland will come to Twickenham with injury doubts of their own with star fly-half Finn Russell and wing Darcy Graham forced off after clashing heads with each other in Scotland's 18-32 loss to Ireland on Sunday in Edinburgh.
Captain Sione Tuipulotu has been ruled out for the entire campaign after tearing a pectoral muscle.
