At around 2:00 pm on 12th February, a wild boar attack occurred in Mian County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi. The boar, which had come down from the mountains in search of food, was startled and charged into a village, injuring two residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the animal became agitated after being disturbed by villagers' shouting. It ran into a courtyard, injuring one person in the leg, while another suffered multiple injuries to the face, arms, and legs.

Local police and town officials arrived at the scene promptly and arranged for the injured individuals to be taken to hospital. Both victims are in stable condition and receiving further treatment, with no life-threatening injuries.

Following an assessment of the situation, the police shot and killed the wild boar and ensured its remains were safely disposed of.

Mian County, located in Hanzhong City, has a forest coverage rate of 67%. Due to successful conservation efforts, the habitat of wild boars has expanded, leading to a population surge as they lack natural predators. Mian County was designated as a wild boar population control trial area in 2023. So far in 2024, 410 wild boars have been culled, yet their numbers continue to rise.
