Brazil: Massive Fire Engulfs Industrial Warehouse in Sao Paulo’s Limao District
São Paulo, Brazil - February 12, 2025 A dramatic video shared by X user Ricardo Magatti on February 12 captured a massive fire tearing through a warehouse in the Limão neighborhood of São Paulo. Thick black smoke rose high above the city as flames engulfed the industrial building. Firefighters were called to the scene on Rua Sampaio Corrêa at 5:22 p.m., where the blaze quickly spread through the 1,200-square-meter factory. Initially, seven fire trucks responded, but as the flames intensified, 20 trucks and 70 firefighters were deployed to contain the disaster. All 20 employees inside managed to escape without injuries, and there were no reports of smoke inhalation. However, the fire caused extensive damage, and at least two nearby cars caught fire after being struck by fallen power lines. Authorities ordered a full closure of the warehouse, requiring clearance before reopening. The fire occurred near the Anhembi Sambadrome and close to the site of a recent plane crash on Avenida Marquês de São Vicente. The intense heat—reaching 32.3°C (90.1°F)—added to the challenges. Emergency teams shut down Rua Sampaio Corrêa in both directions, rerouting nine bus lines, while the power company cut electricity in the area as a precaution.
