US: Smuggler Arrested in Maverick County During Traffic Stop, Three Illegal Immigrants Rescued
United States - January 27, 2025 A routine traffic stop on US-277 led to the arrest of a smuggler and the rescue of three illegal immigrants on January 27, 2025. A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper pulled over a gray Honda Accord, driven by Isaac Eleizer Rodriguez Mendez of Copperas Cove. As the vehicle stopped, the rear passenger door swung open, prompting the Trooper to order Mendez out of the car. Inside, the Trooper discovered three illegal immigrants from Mexico – cramped together in the vehicle, one lying on the floorboard. Mendez was arrested and charged with smuggling of persons. The three immigrants were handed over to Border Patrol for further processing.
