A grand tug-of-war was held in Lintan County of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Gansu Province from Tuesday to Thursday after a suspension of 17 years.
The event took place amid a festive atmosphere of the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month.
People of Han, Hui, Tibetan and other ethnic groups compete against each other on both sides of a steel rope that is over 1,800-meter-long and weighs about 16 tonnes.
With a history of over 600 years, this traditional folk activity was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage of China in 2021.
