Traiguén, Chile - February 13, 2025 The fires in southern Chile continue and so does the government's plan to stop them. The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) confirmed that as of Friday there were 13 forest fires being fought, 45 under control and 6 under observation. Due to forest fires in Chile, red alerts remain active for the Araucanía Region; and for the municipalities of Pinto and San Ignacio, Ñuble Region; and Los Álamos and Alto Biobío in the Biobío Region; all bordering the southern region of Neuquén. In addition, the Chilean authorities reported that the total area razed by fire increased from 14,769 hectares to 17,189. The number of fires being fought means a decrease compared to the total reported on Wednesday, February 12 at the same time, which was 16.
