STORYLINE:
China's Xiamen has exported over 30 million cross-border e-commerce parcels via an air cargo route linking it with Sao Paulo in Brazil, according to Xiamen customs.
The route opened on February 10, 2023.
It's Xiamen airport's first all-cargo service to Brazil, a member of the emerging-market group of BRICS.
Customs data showed that by Feb. 10 this year, 474 incoming and outbound flights had been operated by Xiamen airport.
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): WANG LIGUO, Head of the Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Division of Xiamen Airport Customs
"The exports along our air cargo route to a BRICS country mainly consisted of cross-border e-commerce goods including clothing, footwear, bags, and various household items, primarily practical light industrial products favored by the Brazilians. Imports mainly consist of fresh salmon, cherries, and Chilean prunes, all of which are sourced through this route.
We have implemented round-the-clock operations at Xiamen airport's cargo handling site, effectively reducing processing costs and customs clearance time."
