Salinas, United States - February 06, 2025 A coyote found itself trapped in a water retention pond in Salinas on February 6, unable to escape the slick, steep sides. The coyote became stranded, likely chasing prey or searching for water, until the SPCA Monterey County Wildlife Center responded. After a brief chase, rescuers captured the wet and exhausted coyote and brought him back to their facility for evaluation. Thankfully, the coyote showed no signs of serious injury and is expected to be released back into the wild under sunnier skies the next day. The SPCA Wildlife Center is the only full-service wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility in Monterey County, assisting over 2,500 wild animals each year.
