- February 12, 2025 Israel launched a drone attack in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah on Sunday, resulting in two deaths and several injuries, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources. The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the attack, stating that an Israeli military drone targeted several Palestinian militants who were approaching Israeli forces in the area, leading to casualties. The Israeli military reiterated its call for Gaza residents to follow its instructions and avoid approaching Israeli forces stationed in the area. On the same day, the Hamas-run Gaza media office issued a statement condemning Israel's refusal to approve the entry of recreational vehicles and heavy equipment into the Gaza Strip, as well as the drone strike, which it described as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The statement emphasized that as long as Israel adheres to the ceasefire, Hamas would comply with it. It also called on mediators and the international community to pressure Israel to fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire agreement. Despite the ceasefire, Israel continues to destroy homes in Gaza, according to a report from Al Jazeera on Saturday. Satellite imagery analysis revealed that the Israeli military has constructed defensive fortifications near the Rafah border crossing, said the report. According to the report, images taken between January 19 and February 1 showed that over 60 buildings in Rafah were destroyed during the period, with the demolitions occurring just 700 meters from the Egyptian border.
