This is the dramatic moment a boat crashed into a ferry injuring several passengers in Peru.

Footage captured from onboard the Don Francisco Express boat shows it slamming into the smaller Sajuta V ferry plying the Ucayali River near Pucallpa City in eastern Peru, on February 11.

The Sajuta V tried to steer away before the bow of the Don Francisco Express struck its side. Terrified passengers screamed as the prow shattered the windows and swept across the passenger deck.

Local media reported several people were injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on a busy channel known as the Isla Panaillo curve.

Initial investigations found it was caused by the boat pilot allegedly falling asleep while driving. Authorities said a probe into the collision was underway.
