Cyclops piglet born with one eye shocks village in Indonesia
Villagers were baffled by a piglet born with just one eye in Indonesia.
The baby farm animal shocked pig breeder Yohana Jawa Kore Letjab when it emerged from its mother's womb with a giant eye on its forehead and a deformed snout in East Nusa Tenggara province, on February 15.
Footage shows the piglet snorting as its single eye bulged in the middle of its face. Unlike its siblings, it had no snout and instead had what appeared to be a tongue protruding from its mouth.
Yohana said: 'In my three years of pig breeding, this is the first time I have seen such a deformity. When my neighbours heard about it, they went to my farm to see the piglet's appearance.'
The piglet is believed to have Cyclopia, a rare congenital disorder that can affect goats and some other mammals, including humans. It is characterized by the failure of the two orbital sockets to properly separate during embryonic development, resulting in a single central eye socket and a partially or completely merged eye.
