This is the chaotic moment frantic passengers climbed through train windows in India.

Footage shows the desperate commuters clambering on the sides of the coach and squeezing themselves through the windows of the overcrowded train coaches at the Gaya Railway Station in Bihar, on February 16.

They jostled to find a place onboard to travel to Patna City.

The Indian Railways serves as the largest daily traffic transporter in the country, connecting various regions of India through its extensive network.

With an average of more than 12,817 trains running daily, it plays a crucial role in transporting around 24 million passengers nationwide.

However, the country's massive population of more than a billion - many of them undeveloped - means coaches are often overcrowded, leading to travel chaos.
