This is the bizarre moment a bus crashed and was left doing a wheelie on power lines.

Dashcam footage shows the yellow coach skidding out of control at an intersection corner before hitting the kerb and launching skywards, in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 10.

The vehicle was left with its front tyres raised in the air while caught on the low-lying power cables. Miraculously, none of the passengers of the driver were hurt.

Police, rescue volunteers, and officers from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority later arrived to inspect the scene.

A police spokesman said: 'The bus was travelling Keha Phra Ram 2 and Lumphini Park when its left side mirror was caught on a high-voltage electric pole sling.

'It was left dangling like that but fortunately, there was no one injured or killed as it happened in the middle of the night when there were few road users.'

The accident did not cause traffic congestion, he added.

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
