An eagle-eyed train driver stopped his speeding locomotive - to save a turtle stuck on the tracks.

The line operator spotted the black marsh turtle tucked inside its shell near the Chong Khae railway station in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, on February 15.

Heartwarming dashcam footage shows the train halting on the tracks and reversing to retrieve the stranded reptile.

One of the conductors stepped outside the train and gently carried the animal inside the booth.

Local media reported that the turtle was unharmed and later released into the forest.
