A snowstorm blanketed fields in fresh powder in Kentucky.

Residents have been experiencing extreme winter conditions with 70 mph winds and 3.5 inches of rain, followed by a snowstorm across the state on February 16.

Footage captured by Erin C Perryman shows severe snowfalls and squalls filling fields in Burgin.

Local media reported that a flood watch was issued for most of the state, with severe flooding across the region.

A winter weather advisory was issued the same day, with snow accumulation expected between 1-2 inches.

The weather conditions caused travellers to be unable to navigate roads due to low visibility from gusty winds of up to 40 mph. The risks of uprooted trees, limbs, and powerlines created impassable and risky road conditions for residents.

Governor Andy Beshear has urged residents to stay safe as the state grapples with the effects of this extreme weather.
