This is the shocking moment a crazed local leapt from a hotel onto power lines in Indonesia.

The man with the initials HDP sparked panic when he climbed onto the ledge of the Calista Beach Hotel in Southeast Sulawesi province, on February 17 evening.

Footage shows the guest clad only in underwear rampaging on the building overhang before running across the power lines like a tightrope. He then leapt like Superman and hung on the cables as terrified onlookers screamed.

He was finally caught when he plunged through the canopy of a store.

Adjunct Police Commissioner Abdul Rahmat, public relations head of the Baubau Resort Police, said: 'The person concerned is suspected of being troubled, carrying out reckless actions and causing a stir among residents.'

HDP was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.
