Winter snowstorms hit the plains in Springfield, Missouri.

Powerful wintry conditions have been continuously battering the country, impacting areas from the Plains to the Ohio Valley with heavy snow and gusty winds.

Weather reports said that Springfield is bracing for what could be its largest snowfall in 14 years.

Footage captured by Kelly Allen shows accumulated snow blanketing the field as snow rapidly falls in the area.

The storm is expected to bring near-blizzard conditions to some areas, with low visibility and impassable roads.

Meteorologists are closely monitoring the storm's path, with warnings in effect for many areas in its wake.

The agency urged travellers to prepare for extensive delays, hazardous conditions, and significant traffic disruptions.

'We highly encourage everyone to avoid mountain routes if possible and stay updated on the latest weather and road conditions,' they added.
